Aardvark
And the first card to be reviewed from the new Chamber of Secrets set is....
Rabbit Slippers? Hunh? Gee, they must be saving the good stuff for later.
Although this card is a two-for-one, the target must be of a narrow type.
It only gets creatures. If you want mass creature kill, you'd be better off
playing Trans Test. If you want two-for-one removal, then Scribblifors is
the superior choice. Both of these alternatives carry a lower power cost
than Rabbit Slippers. It looks like Harry Potter bunny cards keep trending
weaker. If this continues, we may soon have a lagomorph rebellion on our
hands. The thought of that makes my hare stand on end.
Crusader
Against creatures, if you can get your lessons up, this card is great. You
can discard 2 of your opponents creatures in play, instead of Mice to Snuffboxes,
they can't play them again! But, with CoS decks now in full effect, creatures
aren't as popular as they used to be, but they're still good. So, an iffy
card, if they aren't running creatures, you've got a useless card in your
hand.
Enraged
This card is much like a Mice to Snuffboxes on steriods. Instead of bouncing
two creatures you get to discard two creatures which is much much better.
However eight power is a big deal if I’m hitting eight power I’m
looking to play a Diffindo or a Scribblifors which can deal with anything
on the table. This is a half way there card useful but expensive to play
if you have problems with creatures play it otherwise play somethin else
Lockhart
This card is all essence a double Incarcifors and for only 2 more cost then
a normal Incarcifors. Now I know all the critics out there are going to go,
but what if your opponent isn't playing creatures what am I going to do then.
Well here's the deal, you need to build your deck a certain way. Either as
denial, attack, spell, creature, item, defensive, or any and all combinations
you can think of. However, your deck should be prepared for any deck you
might face, and while you may not be fearful of creatures, the majority of
decks seen at tourneys will most likely have creatures. So some games this
card might not prove as useful, but in the off chance your opponent is laying
down some heavy creatures, this card could save your hare.
Profpoke
If your goal is anti-Creatures, this guy whoops Diffindo single-handed. But
against decks without Creatures, this cards is totally useless, unless you
wanted to discard your own Creatures for some reason. Great hurt in one situation,
but totally useless in most others.
Snuffles
If you dig Incarcifors and youre not playing critters, this is the card for
you! This fits right in there with Diffindo, so if you are playing denial
and you have a need for pest control, this is definitely a cool option. It's
good because you get to pick the two critters and they go gabybybaby. This
might not seem like a lot, but if you are playing denial, they probably only
have one or two creatures at a time out and this is a good counter to the
ever dreaded halloween Feast. Of course you could always just play Scribblifors
which is probably a safer bet, but there is no reason you couldn't play both.
Lapifors kills one critter and lets you search for another, so that might
be the best option if you yourself are playing creatures. And let us not
forget good ol' trans exam at 10 power. Overall this card is definitely viable,
but there is a lot of denial to choose from nowadays, so i'm not sure if
it will see game play or not.
