Highlights of the season

After the end of the 2012 season, the Blue Jays lost a number of players including Carlos Villanueva, Kelly Johnson, Jason Frasor and Brandon Lyon.
On October 21, 2012, the Blue Jays officially announced that they had released their manager John Farrell.
On November 8, 2012, the Blue Jays signed free agent Maicer Izturis. On the same day, they acquired Esmil Rogers from Cleveland Indians
in exchange for Mike Aviles and Yan Gomes.
On November 14, 2012, Toronto acquired from Miami Marlins Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, Jose Reyes, Emilio Bonifacio and John Buck. In return,
Toronto sent Henderson Alvarez, pitching prospect Justin Nicolino, outfield prospect Jake Marisnick, Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechavarria,
Jeff Mathis and pitching prospect Anthony Desclafani. Toronto also received $8+ million in cash from the Marlins.
On November 16, 2012, they signed free agent Melky Cabrera.
On November 20, 2012, the Blue Jays announced that former manager John Gibbons would once again manage the Blue Jays, in 2013.
On December 11, 2012, the Toronto Blue Jays announced that Juan Perez had been signed to a minor league contract.
On December 17, 2012, the Blue Jays acquired the 2012 National League Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey in a trade with the New York Mets that
sent prospects Travis D'Arnaud, Noah Syndergaard, minor leaguer Wuilmer Becerra and catcher John Buck to New York. Toronto also received
catcher Josh Thole and minor league catcher Mike Nickeas in the trade.
On April 12, 2013, a severe ankle sprain cost Jose Reyes 66 games.
On June 23, 2013, The Toronto Blue Jays dialed their winning streak up to 11 games, earning a share of the franchise record with the 1998 and
1987 Jays teams.
On July 13, 2013, after sitting out 6 weeks with an ankle injury, Brett Lawrie returns to play 2nd base instead of his usual 3th.
Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Steve Delabar and Brett Cecil were named to the American League All-Star team on July 16.
On July 23, 2013, reliever Juan Perez broke a 35-year-old club record for most consecutive innings (22 1/3) without allowing an earned run.
On July 27, 2013, the Blue Jays' offense erupted for 8 runs in the 7th inning as Edwin Encarnacion homered twice, including a grand slam, and turned
an early deficit into a 12-6 victory over the Astros at Rogers Centre.
On August 14, Emilio Bonifacio is dealt to Kansas City for cash or a player to be named. The Blue Jays purchased the contract of outfielder
Kevin Pillar from Triple-A Buffalo.
2013 attendance at Rogers Center averaged 31,316.
